Moisan Alexis



National prize award-winning of the Cégeps en Spectacle competition in 2020, Montreal-based pianist-composer Alexis Moisan currently studies composition under Professor Melissa Hui and piano under Professor Marina Mdivani at McGill’s Schulich School of Music, where he entered the Dean’s honour list and received both the Valerie Wood and W. Douglas awards for academic excellence in 2022. The composer toured his native region of Québécois North Shore during summer 2023, when he premiered a number of his own piano compositions and played for world-famous poet and singer Gilles Vigneault. Recent performances, recordings and commissions include a professional recording with Télé-Québec’s La Fabrique Culturelle of his piano solo piece Champ Gauche in 2021, a commission and performance of Ballade à Guillaume, a piece for piano and violin for the inauguration of the Guillaume Tremblay Foundation in July 2022, and a public diffusion of an electroacoustic piece for Montréal’s SANNAQ center in fall 2023. Moisan also performed for the premiere of his composition Variations pour Violoncelle et Piano with cellist Gabriel Vincent at McGill University in winter 2023.

This short piece illustrates a walk in the city of Montréal.
While the opening moments announce a normal stroll, punctuated by the subtle and ordinary sounds of the nature, people and movement of Montréal, reality is soon distorted, and abnormal sounds progressively disturb the character’s trip and transport us into eerie, bubbly and bizarre sound worlds.
